Hofmann's Voltameter S

The Hofmann's Voltameter S is used for determining the chemical composition of water by volume. Three vertical glass tubes are connected at the bottom and have graduated sides for the proportions of hydrogen and oxygen to be measured. The taps on the top of the outer tubes remain closed while water is added to the inner cylinder through the use of a reservoir. Gold sheet electrodes are fitted to the lower end of the outside tubes and are connected to a low-voltage power supply. When the taps are opened, the gases can be collected for analysis.
