Oersted's Needle Device

The Oersted's Needle Device is ideal apparatus for demonstrating the Oersted's experiment. This involves showing how a magnetised object is deflected by an alternating magnetic field. With this equipment, the object is a needle and the magnetic field is created by an electric current passing through an enamelled copper wire. The needle is secured to a base and when the current passes through, its position will change.
