Endotracheal Intubation Simulator

The Endotracheal Intubation Simulator is a training model for the instruction of securing airways and endotracheal intubation and serves as a challenge for students practising advanced skills and dealing with the accompanying risks. Providing exceptionally good and realistic intubation training, the simulator lends itself to practising various aspects of intubation.

Training Topics

  • Oral and nasal tracheal intubation
  • Handling supraglottic airway devices (e.g. laryngeal mask airway, esophageal gastric tube airway).
  • Confirming left and right air sound with a stethoscope
  • Determining ventilation of one lung
  • Determining accidental oesophageal intubation
  • Usage of the laryngoscope and training of securing airways
  • Neck flexion and head extension
  • Advancement of the mandible
  • Gauging correct pressure: front teeth (upper four) are made to break when pressure is exerted incorrectly and the teeth are used as a fulcrum while using a laryngoscope
  • Determining incorrect intubation

Constructed to Intruct

The Intubation Simulator has been designed to give a highly realistic training experience, and is able to demonstrate not only correct intubation but present the issues that arise from incorrect intubation:

  • When intubation and ventilation are carried out correctly, simultaneous rising of the left and right chest follows
  • When only one lung is ventilated, only one side will rise
  • When the tracheal tube has been mistakenly intubated into the oesophagus, the abdomen will rise (stomach inflation), making it possible to determine the error
  • Parts of the model are purposefully made to be damaged if handled roughly, as with a real patient

Features of the Endotracheal Intubation Simulator

  • Training model displays correct, and hazards of incorrect, intubation
  • Highly realistic anatomic model
  • Breakable front teeth help train correct pressure placement
  • Designed to signal incorrect intubation through rising chest or stomach
  • Supplied with 3 teeth
  • Silicon oil and carrying case included
