The Air Cushion Platform with Inkjet Pucks is a versatile kit designed to accommodate a wide range of motion-based experiments. It includes a vast array of contents for testing, teaching, and experimenting on topics including Newton's equations of motion, uniform motion in a straight line, centre of mass motion, and more.

Key Features of the Air Cushion Platform

  • Matte black aluminium with a stabilising honeycombed interior structure
  • Equipped with profile rails on both sides for attaching accessories
  • Feet can be adjusted for horizontal precision
  • Platform surface features rubber edging with four holders in the corner to stay stretched in place
  • Inkjet pucks feature a micropump motor to generate compressed air for floating across recording paper on a cushion of air
  • Puck motion is recorded by an inkjet onto standard DIN A1 paper on the tabletop
  • Pucks also contain a conventional print cartridge; motion can be recorded in either red or black 
  • Motion can also be followed with a high-speed camera (sold separately); pucks include bi-coloured LEDs for this purpose
  • Time difference between pulses can be set to between 20 and 100ms in steps of 5ms
  • Two special boards with moistening pads for storing pucks to prevent ink drying out
  • Airtight lockable storage box allows print cartridges to be stored separately from pucks
  • Charge status and connectors for charging table located on top of the pucks
  • Built-in power supply with replaceable NiMH batteries rated at 9V mAh
