Baroscope

The Baroscope is a beam balance on a base with a suspended polystyrene ball and adjustable counterweight. It is used for demonstrating buoyancy on a body due to atmospheric pressure.

At a state of equilibrium, a Baroscope is placed in a Vacuum Bell Jar under atmospheric pressure. When the air in the bell jar is evacuated, the Styrofoam sphere falls on account of the reduction in lift.
