Metal Ring

The Metal Ring is ideal for performing the Thomson's ring experiment and will jump into the air due to repulsion between the different currents. The metal ring must be joined with the transformer core D and the mains coil with connection lead for the experiment to work as a voltage is required. The ring is placed on one stem of the transformer, which is then extended by applying the yoke. When the mains power supply is switched on, the ring will leap into the air, as high as one metre.
