Scilabub Frosters Cryogenic Handing Waterproof Gloves with Elasticated Wrist
When you're dealing with dangerously low temperatures, it's essential to wear the right equipment. In addition, your hands need to be comfortable, insulated, and waterproof to provide comfort as well as tactility. The
Scilabub Frosters Cryogenic Handing Waterproof Gloves with Elasticated Wrist ensure safety in a variety of handling environments, perfect for use in labs and cryogenic centres. What's Included? Which Size Is Right for Me?
The Frosters Gloves are available in four sizes that should be suitable for most users. To find your perfect pair, please measure the circumference and length of your palm and match the results to the table below.

Working with temperatures this low can cause serious damage to your hands and arms. These gloves have been tested to EN standards EN 388 and EN 511, measuring their resistance to mechanical threats and the cold. They achieved the following scores:
Hazard Level of Resistance Abrasion Resistance Level 2 Cut Resistance N/A Tear Resistance Level 2 Puncture Resistance N/A EN 511
Hazard Level of Resistance Contact Cold Level 2 Convective Cold Level 2 Water Permeability Level 1 Key Features and Benefits Elasticated wrists for secure fit and to prevent debris entering Waterproof design ideal for submerging in freezing liquids Cotton interior coating to keep the hands warm and comfortable Thermal construction to protect the hands in extreme temperatures Available in a range of sizes to suit all users When Should I Use the Cryogenic Elasticated Gloves?
The Cryogenic Waterproof Gloves are designed for the extreme cold. Recommended applications include:
Cold store work Cryogenics Freezer work Lab work
Please note that these gloves are designed for handling extremely cold materials. We wouldn't recommend them for simple, cold outdoor work. However, if your work means that you have to handle items that are far below freezing, then these gloves are ideal.
What Are the Main Uses of the Frosters Range?
One of the main uses of the Frosters range is to protect against spills and splashes of cryogenic materials, including liquid nitrogen. This can occur when pouring, or just generally working with, ultra-cold cryogenic materials.
Please note that these gloves are not suitable for immersion in liquid nitrogen. What Temperatures Can They Protect Against?
These gloves are designed for people who work with materials that are far below freezing. This can include cryogenics, dry ice handling, bottle handling and scientific work where you can expect to experiment with freezing materials. These gloves are suitable when handling solid materials that are typically between -120°C and -190°C without them becoming stiff.
How Waterproof Are the Frosters Cryogenic Gloves?
The Cryogenic Gloves are designed to offer superb insulation, with their superb synthetic fibre outer layer offering total water resistance. This is particularly ideal for cryogenics and liquid nitrogen handling, as you will be expected to come into contact with extremely cold substances that may be in liquid form. If this is the case, then these gloves will completely protect your hands, wrists and fingers from injury.

Scilabub Gloves are designed for handling items that have been submerged in liquid nitrogen. This includes in vaccine research, where Prime Minister Boris Johnson was seen visiting a vaccine research facility in September 2020. You can see scientists use Scilabub to protect their hands towards the end of the below video.
VIDEO How Do The Frosters Cryogenic Gloves Work?
The Scilabub Gloves feature a special outer layer that is designed to resist water, ideal for handling freezing items that have been submerged in substances such as liquid nitrogen. However, the middle layer features a special polyolefin and polyester micro fibre that has twice the effectiveness of a normal thermal fibre. This then helps to minimise heat transfer without the material being too thick to handle materials.
What Does the Frosters Gloves Fit Feel Like?
The Frosters Gloves with Elasticated Wrist are designed to be comfortable, with a cotton interior coating that keeps the hands cosy and warm during use. The elasticated wrist can protect the hands from external risks too, preventing debris from entering the gloves.
Will I Retain Dexterity in Freezing Conditions?
When handling freezing cold materials you can expect to want to retain dexterity to minimise any risk. These gloves are designed to stay flexible even when handling materials that are lower than -100°C.
